About #

games.ligos.net is an online community for Murray's immediate family, and wider friends. We play online games together.

It may include adults and children from family circles, work colleagues, church, school, and other friendships.

Everyone participating is known by Murray, or known by someone Murray knows. No randoms are permitted.

I am a Christian believer and the rules reflects that. However, this server is not endorsed by any church, and no religious affiliation or belief is required to join.

The community is hosted on Discord. This allows text and voice chat, plus optional video / screen sharing.

Self-hosted games are listed above. Other common games include Roblox, and Fortnite.

Important:You need Minecraft Java Edition to join. Minecraft Education Edition will not work.

Murray's WWCC: WWC0272553V, expiry: Feb 2024. Verification link. Contact me directly for other information required to verify.

Request an Invitation #

Please note that no randoms will be considered; if I don't know you in real life, your request will go unanswered.

Send an email to games@ligos.net. Or contact me directly on WhatsApp, Signal, Discord, SMS or Real Life™. I'll need your name, age and gender when joining.

If you are a child (in school or under 18), I will need to confirm with your parent / carer they are OK with you joining.

Once you're approved, I'll send a Discord invite, and you can add a server (see above) and join.

Here is a video to walk you through adding a Minecraft server.

Note that parents can choose to join and observe before they give permission for children to join.

Four Rules #

Everyone is expected to follow four simple rules:

  1. Respect Others.
  2. Don't Be A ****.
  3. Have Fun.
  4. Murray's Server, Murray's Rules.

If any of these are not clear, you can read the detailed code of conduct below.

Detailed Code of Conduct #

If four rules aren't enough, here are more (Last updated 28/May/2023):

  1. Have Fun: if you aren't having fun, someone is doing it wrong.
  2. Respect Others: everyone is important; everyone is different. Different backgrounds, cultures, languages, and beliefs - but we are all people, and people are important. Everyone should all feel safe on this server.
  3. Be Kind: help others, work together, be a friend.
  4. Don't Be A ****: it doesn't matter which swear word you use, don't be any of them.
  5. Be Patient and Forgive: we'll mess up sometimes - say sorry, make amends and forgive when you are hurt.
  6. Welcome Newbies: we were all n00bs once, so be extra kind and helpful to the new guy.
  7. Say Hello: there may be people you haven't met before, say hi and get to know them!
  8. Listen: listen to others. Games make us excited or frustrated (and sometimes both at the same time), and we can forget to listen. If someone says "stop", it's time to stop.
  9. Real Names: you can use nicknames and handles in-game and on Discord, but you must give Murray must your real name, age, and gender when you join.
  10. Real People: behind every nickname is a real person, with real feelings. If you wouldn't say it in real life, don't say it online.
  11. Nothing Illegal: any conduct illegal under NSW law will result in an instant perma-ban and a free referral to the NSW police. Just don't.
  12. No Griefing: deliberately hurting or trolling people in-game or on Discord is a crime. There will be consequences.
  13. No Bullying: verbally taunting or bullying people in-game or on Discord is a crime. That includes nagging someone to join a game. There will be consequences.
  14. Language: trash talk is fine until its not. Keep your language clean, free from hate, and maybe even say something nice.
  15. PG Content: children under 13 may use these servers. Never post mature content.
  16. Respect In-Game Property: games involve gathering stuff and building things. Clearly label your stuff and things. Don't touch other's stuff or things without their permission. Stealing is a crime. Property damage is a crime.
  17. No Secrets: all chat on Discord should be in the open. Parents may choose to observe. Do not initiate or accept private messages for general chat. Never accept requests to chat on a different platform. Confidential conversations should happen somewhere else.
  18. Parents: parents / carers may join games and / or Discord. They are encouraged to observe or actively participate!
  19. Moderators: some members may be designated as moderators by Murray. They have the power to delete messages, kick or ban people. All moderators must provide a current WWCC number.
  20. WWCC: a WWCC number is not required to participate or observe. However, I encourage adults to provide one if you are participating regularly.
  21. Discord Optional: you don't have to use Discord to join a game. You don't have to join a voice channel. You don't have to turn your video on. Do what you feel comfortable with.
  22. Games Optional: you can just hang out on Discord if you want as well.
  23. Video By Authorisation: video chat and screensharing on Discord is disabled by default. Murray may grant that privilage by request, with permission of parents, and after a period of observed good behaviour.
  24. Privacy: never post personal or private details about yourself or others. No addresses, emails, passwords, bank details, selfies. A mug shot for your profile pic is allowed (and optional).
  25. Private Messages: are strongly discoraged. However, I can't stop private messages or chat. This code of conduct applies there too - being nasty in a private channel will have worse consequences.
  26. Discord Guidelines: Discord has its own Community Guidelines, we should follow them too.
  27. Servers Are Not Monitored 24/7: I'm one guy, I can't be everywhere at once. But server logs and chat messages are kept, they are regularly reviewed. Please monitor (or participate in) your child's games.
  28. Time Limits: I can't enforce time limits (other than banning you). You (or your parent) must self-enforce any limits so you don't spend 25 hours per day playing games.
  29. Speak Up: if you feel uncomfortable, unsafe or hurt, please private message Murray, or a moderator.
  30. Give Feedback: if you have ideas how to improve the server, please contact me via Discord, email or in Real Life™. I promise to read / listen to all feedback, but the answer may be "no".
  31. My Server, My Rules: if you don't like the rules, find a different server. All decisions by Murray are final.

Players who do not obey the code of conduct may have penalties including:
